Daisy Mackey will be remembered as a woman whose faith was not simply something she professed, but something she lived. For more than a decade, she faithfully served Paradise Seventh-day Adventist Church as Head Deaconess, helping care for the life and ministry of the church alongside her husband, Elder Ron Mackey, and many others who helped establish Paradise. Her service was marked by dedication, humility, generosity, and an unwavering willingness to help wherever she was needed.

 

For Daisy, serving the church meant serving people. She was often found in the kitchen preparing meals, organizing church gatherings, feeding large crowds, and making sure no one was overlooked. But her ministry reached far beyond the kitchen. She encouraged new believers, supported those facing difficult seasons, invested in young people through Pathfinder ministry, prayed for those who needed encouragement, and quietly stepped in whenever someone needed help. Members remember her as a spiritual mother whose firmness, wisdom, humor, and compassion helped make Paradise feel like more than a church — it felt like family.

 

What made Daisy’s impact so lasting was the way she pointed people back to God. Those who knew her speak of her warmth, generosity, strong character, sense of humor, and deep commitment to service. Even in illness, she remained concerned about others and faithful to the Lord. Her life demonstrated that ministry is often found in ordinary acts of love: preparing a meal, welcoming someone into the kitchen, cleaning a home for someone in need, encouraging a young person, making a phone call, or simply showing up.

 

Daisy leaves behind family, friends, and a church family who will carry her memory forward. She is remembered with deep affection by her loved ones, including her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends. Her legacy lives in the people she fed, encouraged, taught, corrected, prayed for, welcomed, and loved. As Paradise SDA Church gives thanks for her life, we also hold to the hope that shaped her faith: that one day, when Jesus returns, those who sleep in Christ will rise again. Until that morning, we honor Daisy by continuing the work she lived so faithfully — loving God, serving others, and making room for people to know they belong.
